What I Learned From a Six Year Old

I have been blessed to have my six-year-old grandson visit with me for the month of June. It is a blessing but certainly challenging to continue working my business every day. For one thing I can't concentrate or hear myself think because from the time he wakes up until the time he goes to bed there is constant chatter. Keane talks non-stop and is a thinker and is always expressing his thoughts. He also jumps from one activity to the next.

When I attempt to think it is difficult because of his chatter. I realized that is how I used to be. I had a lot of chatter constantly going on in my mind. Most of it was negative, most of it was disempowering, and most of it was discouraging. Also, because of my "blue" personality I would often jump from activity to activity, from project to project and from mlm company to mlm company. Boy, am I glad I participated in the 30 day mental cleanse which helped me stop all that chatter. Also, reading the Success in 10 Steps ebook stopped the company hopping.

Keane has taught me a lot. From observing him I realize I really do need to become more like a child. He has no problem asking for what he wants. And, if he doesn't get it the first time, he will persist and ask again, and again, and again. As adults we sometimes stop asking for what we want. We often settle for what we get. I know I have been guilty of that. But clearly the bible says "we have not because we ask not."

Keane has taught me how to use my creativity. Since he knows I can sew, he wanted me to dress a teddy bear. He didn't stop asking until I relented. That meant I had to make the bear some clothes -- pants & shirt. When I said I didn't know how he simply said 'yes you do.' And so I did. Two lessons learned: 1) persist until you get what you desire as he did and 2) you really can if you think you can as I did when I started believing I could (provided you have the natural ability). In other words, I have not been blessed to sing. So, no matter how hard I try, I will never be a singer.

One other thing I observed from Keane. He is impatient. He wants every thing now. For instance, he wanted a hot dog so I put water on the stove (I am old school with my hot dogs.) He said, that will take too long. Why can't you put it in the microwave? Is that impatient or what?

I remember when I was like that about building my home business. I was impatient and wanted microwave results. This only caused much frustration. Thank God I started understanding principles like the "slight edge." I also learned how to follow a simple recipe for success that eliminated the frustration and I now enjoy building my home business.

Well, that's all for now. There is too much chatter going on.

Lessons Learned From a Five Year Old

My grandson visited me a few months back. It was a blessing to have him for a month but it was certainly a challenge to work my business every day. For one thing I couldn't concentrate or hear myself think because from the time he arose until the time he went to bed there was constant chatter. Keane talked non-stop and freely expressed his thoughts. And throughout the day, he jumped from one activity to the next.

I realized that is how I used to be. I had a lot of chatter constantly going on in my mind. Most of it was negative, most of it was disempowering, and most of it was discouraging. Also, because of my "blue" personality I would often jump from activity to activity, from project to project and from network marketing company to network marketing company. Boy, am I glad I learned how to stop the negative chatter and how to stop program hopping.

Keane taught me a lot. From observing him I realized I needed to become more like a child. He has no problem asking for what he wants, even if it's help to do something. And, if he doesn't get it the first time, he will persist and ask again, and again, and again. As adults we sometimes stop asking for what we want. We often settle for what we get. And when we need help we suffer in silence instead of asking for it. I know I have been guilty of that. I suffered in silence when I didn't know how to build my business until I finally sought help.

Keane taught me how to use my creativity. Since he knows I can sew, he asked me to make an outfit for a teddy bear. When I said I didn't know how to make those clothes, he simply said 'yes you do.' He accepted no excuses. And so I did. He kept asking until I relented.

Two lessons learned from this: 1) persist until you get what you desire as he did and 2) when you think you aren't capable, someone will believe in you until you believe in yourself.

Thank God I started understanding principles like the "slight edge" which is simply taking consistent actions each day - actions which are easy to do but just as easy not to do (be sure they are the right actions). I also learned how to follow a simple recipe for success which eliminated the frustration and I now enjoy building my home business without expecting microwave results.

How Not to Create Multiple Streams of Income

I just read an article by an mlm guru. The guru stated he believed in multiple streams of income because at least four mlm companies had failed him in the past. Did you get that? Four network marketing companies failed him. In fact, he said that the owners of the first company he joined were not the type of people he wanted to be associated. His second company was a start-up company that ran into legal issues after the very first year. He only joined that company because of their proprietary, cutting-edge products. The third company switched from multi-level marketing to direct sales, thus, eliminated the multi-level compensation plan and thereby cutting their commission checks by 90%.

For this reason, he always has more than one network marketing business going so as not to put his eggs in one basket.

His experiences are not unique to network marketers unless they have a crystal ball. Okay, there is no such thing as a crystal ball. Oh really. I beg to differ. The Mentoring For Free Training & Education System is just that. Mentoring For Free teaches you exactly how to know that you know that you know if a network marketing company will fail you. We teach you how to determine if the mlm company owners have integrity (a company that changes from mlm to direct sales does not have integrity.) We teach you why to never join a start up company (too risky as most start-ups never survive past two years). We teach you that having proprietary, cutting-edge products should not be the main reason to join a company. While I agree with him that nothing is ever 100% guaranteed, there is a way to know if you at least have a chance to create residual income in a work at home business that will last for years to come.

These are only a few things we teach at Mentoring For Free.

While I believe in multiple streams income, I don't believe you should have more than one mlm business at a time. If you do, where do you focus. If you do, which product or service do you promote. If you do, will anyone take you seriously? Our heavy-hitter guru feels that all you need to do is use an automated downline builder to generate leads and sell your products and/or enroll your new distributors. Then all you have to do is focus your energy on training your new affiliates after they join you in business. He hasn't realized that network marketing is a relationship business and people generally do business with people they know, like and trust.

What about you? How do you feel about multiple streams of income? As I mentioned, while I believe in multiple streams of income, working more than one network marketing business is not how to create those multiple streams.

Are You Being Promised Spillover?

I received the following from my friend and mentor, Michael Dlouhy. Michael has been in network marketing for over 30 years thus he knows the ins and outs of the industry. He is like E. F. Hutton, when he talks, people listen and I hope you do too. Well, if not listen, at least read what he has to say.

Beginning of Michael's letter:

A caller recently told me he's joining an MLM company because they promised him spillover. I said, "They are lying to you!"

The guy called me back later and said, "I point-blank asked them if I'd get people put underneath me, and the guy said, Well, we can't guarantee that.'"

Spillover - Creating a Welfare Mentality

Good people don't want welfare. They want to build it themselves. They just want to learn the skills they need to build this business and create residual income, money that's coming in week after week, year after year, and they can will it to their children's children.

When you look at a lot of network marketing websites, you often see that word "spillover." The proposition, more or less, is, "get in now, today, and you'll get all this spillover."

In 27 years, I have never, ever, ever seen anybody get spillover, having somebody build it for them.

And if you look closely at the compensation plans of the companies that promote spillover, you'll find out that those who get spillover usually don't get paid on it. There are other hoops to jump through to get paid on that spillover, and these people rarely ever qualify.

So it's the person who actually does the work who gets the pay what a novel idea!
Companies & reps use "spillover" as a tool to drag in people who think they can build a business without doing any work. In other words, no sponsoring, no recruiting. It targets that type of person.

When You Say "Spillover", You Are Targeting Quitters!

When you see a network marketing company that promotes spillover on their website, they're looking for welfare-minded people. The problem for you is, you can't build with these people, unless YOU do all the work! That's what they expect. And when you don't build their business, they'll be off somewhere else, looking for a better welfare plan.

So really, when you or your company promote spillover, you are targeting people who will not be with you long-term. And in network marketing, that makes absolutely no sense. The failure rate will be 100%.

And Here's Why The Leads You Buy Tell You To Go Pound Sand!

The quickest way to build a huge list is to offer the moon and require nothing (no money, no work, no purchase) in return. You'll see companies promoting "we've signed up more people faster than anybody else in the history of network marketing." Problem is, there's nobody ordering any product. It's just a bunch of names on a list - but now they can call these people "network marketers."

Then they turn around and sell this huge database of worthless names (an "MLM genealogy list") For $10,000 each to 10 different list brokers. BAM! That's $100,000 profit! And then the list brokers sell these "leads" to all the people in network marketing who want to build their business - including YOU!

So you pay $2-$3 a lead for these people, you call them up, and they tell you, "Hey! You are nuts! I've never been in network marketing!" They don't even know what it is. They just opted in to some pie-in-the-sky list, hoping to get something for nothing.

Conclusion? Run like heck from any company focused on "spillover" - and ALWAYS generate your own leads.

End of Michael's letter.

Don't know how to generate your own leads? Find out here. You will not only learn how to generate your own leads but will learn what to do with them because you will also learn the skills needed to build this business and create residual income.

How to Stop Bargaining with Life for a Penny

As I mentioned in a previous post, your desire must become a burning obsession. So, the big question is "How do you develop a burning desire??" Here's what my friend, Sarah Thompson, shared on the weekly Mentoring for Free mastermind call.

1 Take full responsibility for where you are or are not.

2. Look inside you and find Your why. (Read Chapter 2 in Success in 10 Steps to help you develop it.)

3. Burn Your bridges (DO NOT STOP YOUR income). First plan the day and then take action to achieve your desire.

4. Fill your environment with desire boosters. Make a vision board, a dream board - create images of your desire. Mastermind with like minded people - commit to be here every week. Do whatever it takes to make new friends who will help you keep your commitment.

5. Feed your mind with positive empowering information on a daily basis.

6. Stop all negative incoming data ALL of it. (News, Newspapers, Gossip, etc.)

7 Develop your self talk.

8. Take action NOW. !!!!

Are You Bargaining with Life for a Penny?

Each Wednesday, my mastermind group reads a chapter of Napoleon Hill's 'Think & Grow Rich." Here are highlights from Chapter 2, Desire - The Starting Point of All Achievement.

1. Have a definite burning desire backed by plans;

2. Everybody wishes for money. But, the accumulation of money can not be left to chance, good fortune or luck. There has to be a burning desire for it. There must be a money consciousness.

3. Whatever your desire, stick with it until it becomes a burning obsession. The method by which DESIRE for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent, consists of six definite, practical steps. (Listed in the chapter);

4. Stake your entire future on the ability to get what you want. Burn all bridges 'cause it's win or perish;

5. Be a dreamer. Remember, a dream comes through a multitude of activity (Ecclesiastes 5:3) Dreams are not born of indifference, laziness or lack of ambition. They don't come by a multitude of words. There is a difference between WISHING for a thing and being READY to receive it. No one is ready for a thing, until he believes he can acquire it. The state of mind must be BELIEF, not mere hope or wish;

6. Be tolerant and open-minded. They are practical necessities of the dreamer today, thus, translate your dreams into organized thought. Open-minded is essential for belief. Closed minds do not inspire faith, courage, and belief;

7. Life will yield what you demand. If you bargain with life for a penny - that's what you'll get. No more effort is required to aim high in life, to demand abundance and prosperity, than is required to accept misery and poverty. Our only limitations to receive abundance are those we set up in our minds.

If you are a tolerant, open-minded dreamer with a desire to succeed in network marketing, the Success in 10 Steps ebook will help you organize your thoughts. It was written by my good friend and mentor, Michael Dlouhy. He has 30+ years in network marketing, and is currently, actively today using what he teaches to build his own solid mlm business. Therefore, it is not the superficial or elementary knowledge you will find in other places (often with a heavy price). The Mentoring for Free System will help you devise your plan and learn the required skills to follow Michael's footsteps. The mastermind group will help you turn that desire into a burning obsession.

For a free audio on how to turn your whimsical fantasy into a burning desire, or to inquire about joining the weekly mastermind group, contact me. I am more than happy to help you.

What is Your Freedom Factor?

When are you financially free? You're financially free when you're living your dream lifestyle without having to work or rely on anyone else for money. It's when you are free to do what you want, when you want, with whom you want.

What is Your Freedom Factor?

Don't know? Try this!

1. When would you like to be financially free?

In one year
In two years
In five years
In ten years

Great! What's your plan to achieve this goal?

2. How much money do you need monthly to be financially free?

$1,000
$2,000
$5,000
$10,000 or more

Great! What's your plan to receive this monthly income?

3. Multiply your answer from Question #2 by 200*. This is the amount you need to invest at 6%interest to receive your desired monthly income.

$ ___________x 200 = $

Great! What's your plan to accumulate this money?

So, what is your freedom factor? It's your answer to Question #3. Your Freedom Factor is "The Factor" that allows you to "Own Your Life". In this case, your Freedom Factor is the amount of money you would need invested in real estate, in the bank, in the stock market, etc. in order to become financially free.

POP QUIZ

Q. How much money would you need to save every month, over the next 5 year, to save $1 million?

a) $160
b) $1,600
c) $16,000
d) $160,000

Answer: C

"Can you save $16,000 every month?"

That's $16,000 a month after you pay for food, gas, utilities, credit cards. After you pay your mortgage or rent, car payment, insurance, etc.

The $1 million you saved would give you a royalty income of $5,000 a month ($60,000 a year). Whether you went to work or not, you'd get that money.

Here's the Good News. Some people have found an easier way to create $5,000 a month ($60,000 a year) in royalty income. Would you like to find out how?

Facebook Tips by 'Big Al'

My mentor, Tom 'Big Al' Schreiter, told me to share these tips and not to be selfish. So, here goes:

New prospects can check you out on Facebook. So what will they see?

Do you have pictures of your last party with a lampshade on your head? Skinny-dipping from your party boat?

Or is it a picture of you, your family, your dog and the people you are helping?

Do you promote 16 different companies and affiliate programs? Or do you appear to be focused on an opportunity and willing to guide others to success?

And check out the conversations on your wall. Remember, you can delete profanity from your drunken friends.

In network marketing, people join people. They are more interested in you than the company. So why not give the best impression now?

Facebook is huge. People can peek inside you and your life. Make sure the view is flattering.

Network Marketing & MLM - What is the Difference or Is There One?

So often I hear the terms network marketing and multi-level marketing (mlm) interchangeably. In fact, I have interchanged them myself. But, as I became educated, I learned they are not necessarily the same.

What got me thinking about this and why does it even matter? I was at a networking meeting where the guest presenter was promoting her business. Throughout the course of the afternoon she made it a point to say her company was not network marketing or mlm - it was simply a club where individuals could buy their products wholesale. Since many people are turned off when they hear the terms 'network marketing' or 'mlm', the distributors in this company promote their business as a savings club. The problem is you have to join the company as a distributor to even purchase the product. Also, this company pays on multiple levels. Well, by definition, a business model that pays on more than one level is multi-level marketing. Further, since network marketing is defined as a distribution channel which allows people to share in the profits, this company is clearly a multi-level, network marketing company.

In both multi-level marketing and network marketing, individuals are given the opportunity to sell products/services to the end consumer and share in the profits. Instead of paying the celebrities for product endorsement, companies pay that money to the distributors who recommend and promote the products to their networks.

With the proper skills, multi-level marketing can create royalty or residual income. On the other hand, creating residual income may not even be a possibility with a network marketing company that is not mlm.

Here's the difference.

A direct sales company is a network marketing company. In direct sales, someone sells a product and gets paid a one-time commission. Generally, to receive another commission, they have to find a new customer and make another sale (unless it is a consummable). This method is often used for big ticket items or non-consummable items. Home parties is a good example of this type of compensation. Also, if the distributor only gets paid on his personal sales, it is strictly network marketing. However, if a company pays a commission on multiple levels of distributors, then it becomes multi-level marketing as well.

A company can start out as mlm but change to network marketing when they get in a money crunch as recently happened to a well-known company.

As mentioned, both network marketing and multi-level marketing are business models where goods/services are distributed to the end consumer. However, in network marketing, the company pays the commission on one level only. As the name implies, in multi-level marketing (mlm), commissions are paid out on various levels, usually predetermined by the company. Network marketing is a lot like a job, you start from scratch each month because you produce linear income. You get paid on your individual effort only and the moment you stop working, the income stops. In multi-level marketing, you get paid for not only your personal sales, but on the sales of others. In this business model, if you do the work right, you can get paid forever. Your royalty (or residual) income can actually increase from month to month (because you are being compensated for the work of your entire organization). In mlm you can eventually work your way out of a job and into enjoying '7-Day Weekends' because when you stop working, the income will continue to increase.

In a nutshell: Every multi-level marketing company is a network marketing company. However, some network marketing companies are not multi-level marketing. The difference is determined by how many levels are paid.

OH MY GOSH! What Happened Here and Could This Happen to You?

My good friend forwarded an email he received from his former network marketing company. He was very relieved that he found out the truth about network marketing in the nick of time otherwise he would have been quite upset about the newsflash he received from the CEO of his former company. After you read it you will understand why. Although this is the exact letter he received, the name of the company is changed to protect the innocent.

Beginning of Newsflash

I would like to take a few moments to express my sincere and deep gratitude for your loyalty and support over the years. Company XYZ has always held and will continue to hold a large part of my heart.

Due to economic issues at this time, it has come to my realization that we are no longer able to offer the network marketing compensation model for our distributor family. It is with deep regret that I am announcing effective May 1, 2009 that we will suspend the enrollment of new distributors into our current compensation models and only pay commissions for any Fast Start Retail orders and/or distributor re-orders according to the existing compensation models of each respective company. All commissions for April 2009 (including Retail Fast Starts) will be processed by June 15, 2009 to allow for our generous return policy to process. Commissions for May 2009 will be processed by July 15, 2009 at our current compensation model of each existing company.

I realize that we need to take the lessons of this sour economy to heart and offer a true opportunity to any individual to earn a few hundred extra dollars or more per month on the simple philosophy of offering great products to individual consumers. Therefore, prior to June 1st 2009, I look forward to offering an opportunity to our current distributor base to continue marketing Company XYZ products through an affiliate/direct sales model that will pay one level of commission. This program is similar to the already successful distribution program through the Company XYZ retail compensation, but will allow us greater flexibility in meeting the financial decision needs of our consumer while allowing the continued financial gain of our distributor base.

I realize many of you may have questions and concerns, but please keep in mind that my goal is to keep you fully aware of any and all issues moving forward. I personally look forward to making our affiliate/direct sales program available to you on June 1st that allows any individual to earn income from the sale of products alone. Stay tuned for more information regarding that program.

Thank you for your patience and support.

End of Newsflash

Does that seem harsh? It seems very brutal to me. But, it is not surprising. It happens often in the network marketing industry when pillar No. 1 is missing -- company management with integrity & mlm experience. Do you see what has happened here? Many distributors have wasted the last four years building a business they will no longer receive the residual income they worked so hard to create. The company on the other hand gets to keep all the customers they introduced to them. This company had a bottom line only focus and their motto is company first. However, if the focus had been distributors first, this would not have happened.

How would you feel if you received that newsflash? Better yet, how would you like to make sure that never happens to you? It could have easily happened to my friend but he chose to get educated about mlm and decided to read the ebook, Success in 10 Steps. This generic network marketing information saved him from experiencing that heartache.

Could this happen to you? Not sure? If not, do like my friend. Start your network marketing education by first reading the Success in 10 Steps Ebook because this type of network marketing company behavior is absolutely predictable and could happen to you if you don't know how to avoid it.

What is Network Marketing?

As Featured On Ezine Articles

Network Marketing is simply recommending, referring or promoting something. We begin network marketing as small children. Children recommend toys, movies, games, candy bars, soda pops, etc. all the time. As adults, we recommend books, foods, restaurants, plays, etc. We also refer people and services. But, even though we are constantly involved in network marketing, many people resist the concept of network marketing when it comes to starting a home business because they don't understand this concept.

Although network marketing is something we all participate in, there are two types of network marketers -- those who have decided they want to get paid for recommending, referring and promoting and those who have not. And, of those who have decided to get paid to do so, there are also two types -- those who have decided to get educated, learn the industry, develop skill-sets and therefore earn a substantial income as professional network marketers and those who have not gotten educated and therefore struggle and earn little to no money.

Many years ago, I was one who decided to get paid to network market. But, I fell into the second type of network marketers because I did not get educated. Consequently, I struggled and you know the rest.

But, after I decided to get educated, the very first thing I learned was network marketing is a relationship building business. It is not a sales business as I previously believed. Learning this truth was life-changing for me. I immediately understood why I and so many others struggled to build a successful home business. But, it made perfect sense. People do business with people they know, like and trust. With so many identical or comparable goods and services available, that is truly the competitive edge. Now, understand this, although your competitve edge is how well people know, like and trust you, you still need to have a great product or you will just be known, liked and trusted.

If you are a network marketer who has decided to earn an income but are struggling because of lack of knowledge about the network marketing industry, lack of skills training, or about how to build relationships, I invite you to register here to begin your education. This training is free. It is also generic training and mentions no company or product.

If you have never considered earning an income in network marketing, think about this. The wonderful thing about network marketing is you can build a solid business once and get paid for those efforts over and over again which is recurring or residual income. This type of income is different from the other type of income most people earn which is linear income -- income which is earned one time after trading time for it.

Remember, whether or not you have decided to become a network marketing professional, you are actively participating in network marketing every time you recommend, refer or promote.

Working for Uncle Sam -- Two Choices -- Part 2

On yesterday I told you about the outcome from my choice to work for Uncle Sam. I also told you there were two factors which helped with that decision. The first was the possibility of retiring at a young age as I explained and the second factor was the rate of compensation.

When I started my job search, I checked into the state government and the federal government. The pay scale for the federal surpassed the state by a huge margin. So I decided to take the federal test and the rest is history. I never considered private industry because my research showed me that the rate of pay in the local area was lower than with the federal government.

I did not have a specific government agency in mind to work for. I did not know what job I would end up specializing in. But I did know I was gonna work for the federal government because they had the highest rate of pay. I made my very logical decision based on that and the good retirement system. Those are the two factors.

As you can see I did my homework and thus was able to make an informed decision. It was strictly an economic decision and it worked out well for me.

When I first learned about network marketing I embraced the idea. The concept of earning residual income appealed to me. But, the logic I used to decide who I would work for, was thrown out the window. I did not do my research. I did not study to see if I would ever be able to retire. And I never knew how much I would get paid for my efforts. My decision was usually based on a company's products. Consequently, I have made futilte attempts to create an income in network marketing because the rate of compensation with horrendous.

But then I read the book Success in 10 Steps. This book opened my eyes to network marketing. I found out why my lack of success was not my fault. After reading that book I understood the odds were stacked against me. I realized that just like there was a disparity in pay between the federal and state governments, that is also the case from company to company in network marketing. Boy was I glad to find that out. It has made all the difference in building a business.

What about you? Have you ever taken a job without first knowing the compensation? Or, did you start the job and then find out the rate of pay? Probably not. If you're like most people, you knew before you started exactly how much you would get paid. Well, shouldn't you also know that before you start with a network marketing company?

Be empowered to prosper!

It's Not Magic --- It's Only Math

I just received another call from someone offering me this wonderful biz op. I was told about a cure-all product that would magically make me lots of money. This person was truly excited about the income possibilities.

Well, I can relate to how they felt because that used to be me. Great products have enticed me in the past. After all, I just knew everyone else would feel the same way. Of course I was wrong. No one felt the same way. And so, very soon my bubble burst because of the difficulty in selling the product and/or selling the business opportunity.

That was before I got educated. Products no longer excite me. I fully understand without an excellent product, a company won't stay in business. But, I also fully understand having an excellent product is not enough to keep me in business.

Okay, back to this business opportunity. After I was offered this wonderful biz op I asked a simple question (well two questions actually but I'll discuss the second question at another time). The question was this: How many customers/affiliates will I need to earn a $10,000/mo income? The answer was this: You can earn $10,000/week with only 200 people. Well had I not been educated, had I not been able to do the math, I would have been excited about this. BUT, I am educated, I can do the math and I am a critical thinker. I knew there is no way (unless by magic) a product selling for only $60.00 with a 5% commission payout could possibly produce $10,000/week with 200 people. In fact, in doing the math, I calculated it would require over 3,000 people to produce a $10,000/mo income.

I mentioned I got educated. My education started with a free ebook. The fact is I had to get educated. I was tired of spinning my wheels. I was once in a company where I needed 5,000 people to earn a $10,000/mo income. I got involved because the product was exceptional. But, I soon realized it would be almost impossible to reach my income goal. Companies know this. They know all they have to do is provide a good product to suck you in, no matter how poor the compensation plan is. I call that cruel and unusual punishment.

So, if you have a great product, before you get excited about the income possibility, DO THE MATH on the front end. It will save you a lot of failure and frustration on the back end.

The Products are Great --- BUT!

I'd like to share with you an experience a friend of mine had. She found this company and their products are great.

What she did NOT know is that the payplan is a horrible fiasco at the expense of the hardworking and naive distributors who are never taught to look at the business aspect of a company they join. People joined because they liked a product a friend or neighbor introduced them to and they could get products cheaper by joining.

After the 9th pay plan change (cut) in 11 years, and the elimination of the car bonus program without replacing it with something else, her income from that company was suddenly slashed about 80%.

But at that time, she did not know how important it was to understand the business side and comp plan payout schedule and to search out the track record of the company owners and management - their integrity, business acumen and skill, and global experience.

That's when her REAL education about MLM began.

What she learned (and so have I) in addition to having a great product and the company owners having integrity, skill and global experience, there are three other things to consider when choosing a company which are these:

======> timing in the industry and timing in the company.

You never want to get in on a ground floor opportunity and you never want to get involved in new industry. Let the company work out the kinks for a couple of years. If it is a good opportunity, it will be after two years (if it survives.)

======> a fair compensation plan

A fair compensation plan is not one which pays the top 1% or only the full-time network marketers. A fair plan is not one which you can never earn more than your upline because of the way it's structured. A fair plan is not one which requires a balancing act or hoop jumping to qualify.

Okay, a fair compensation plan is one which allows the part-time distributor the same opportunity to earn money as the full-time distributor. A fair compensation plan is one which allows the newest distributor to earn as much as his/her upline. A fair compensation plan is one which does not require you to do a balancing act. In other words, you won't be required to have two balanced leg before you are paid.

======> a system for success

When you due your homework and find a company which meets the above criteria, you can almost guarantee your success if you have a system that you and your entire team can use. You need to have duplication going on. You don't want to be a sponsor monster because you will never be able to retire from building your business. You want everyone duplicating your efforts so they can get the same results.

Which brings me to this final point. Be sure to read your company's policies and procedures so you can be sure you can retire when you decide. If you see clauses which say you must have ongoing sales or ongoing recruiting -- BEWARE. You will never be able to retire. But then, that brings us right back to a company having integrity.
